Offshore Wind-wave
despite accelerating growth in the offshore wind industry in Europe, and generally higher effeciency than onshore wind in the open sea, offshore wind has yet to offer competitive cost of energy. This is predominantly due to the high cost of installation and transmission infrastructure. Wave energy converters are the least developed technology in the renewable energy sector, even with 1000 times higher energy density than wind, the ability to harness wave energy at cost remains the challenge for developers worldwide.
Project W-square
offshore wind-wave integration R&D team estabilished in 2015, aimming to integrate the Aimmer principle with offshore wind turbines. By combining wind and wave energy farms in co-located offshore sites, we can enhance the energy harnessing effeciency, reduce power intermittency, hence reducing cost of energy to customers.
